CAN WE HELP YOU?
Hans Hageman & Associates, LLC provides training and coaching for nonprofits and government agencies in the areas of cross-cultural competency, verbal and non-verbal communication, leadership skills, and transformational development. Our workshops, retreats, presentations, and coaching increase personal and organizational productivity. We are in the business of transforming lives. Transformed lives lead to transformed leadership.

DIVERSITY
In the area of diversity and cross-cultural competence, our work is substantive and not symbolic.  We work with people who want to strengthen or create a more diverse culture in their organization.  If you are passionate about building a culture where there is an environment of respect and a constant search for common ground, then we want to help.

Do you believe that a diverse community and an awareness of the issues surrounding its creation will contribute to your organization’s creativity, innovation, communication, recruitment and retention, and productivity?  We’ll help you create the process.

We embed our training with follow-up coaching for lasting change. We partner with formal and informal leaders in the organization – whether  a school, an arts program, or an urban police department  - to provide you with a competitive advantage. We want to make sure that your organization is the “place and provider of choice” to an increasingly diverse domestic and global talent and customer base.

Our orientation is forward-looking. Rather than seek to assess blame, we are always working with our clients to determine “where do we go from here?” We believe that this is a critical frame to operate in for any learning organization.  We create a non-judgmental and non-confrontational learning environment.

We work in the traditional diversity areas of race, gender, age, disability, religion, and national origin. We also take on the less frequently talked about areas of geography, sexual orientation, marital status, economic status, educational background, and work/family balance.

Our diversity programs are customized.  We generally provide training in 1 0r 2-day formats.  We embed the change by offering follow-up coaching.  We understand that you have to meet bottom-line priorities.  Imagine how much stronger your organization will be when these priorities are aligned with your core values.

NONPROFIT LEADERSHIP
The job of the nonprofit leader can be incredibly complex. We understand the need for performance-based outcomes for training and coaching. However, we believe that changing your way of “being” creates longer-lasting change than just changing your way of “doing.” Our work with nonprofit leaders is at the level of values, core beliefs, identity, and destiny.

We help every person we are working with to be clear about the path they are on, help them to discover more choices, get them to take action, and hold them accountable for the goals and actions they are focused on.  We understand that there will often be a mix of organizational, personal, and career challenges that must be addressed.  We believe that it is part of our job to help individuals learn to take care of themselves – emotionally and physically.  In this way, we help people avoid the emotional burnout and physical challenges that can become a part of their job.

We help to reduce the sense of isolation that so many leaders in the sector experience.  We provide an objective set of eyes and ears that aid the leader in reflection.  We help leaders improve their thinking.

COACHING
We work with clients in groups or individually to help them set the direction for greater self awareness and productivity.

OUR APPROACHES
Please notice the above plural – “Approaches.” We are influenced by Goleman’s work on Emotional Intelligence, as well as Neuro-Linguistic Programming, somatic research, Appreciate Inquiry, and co-active collaboration. Our training is learner-centered and performance-based. Our work is characterized by interactivity, guided discovery, and feedback.

We deal with people, not problems. We do not look for clients who are seeking to purchase expertise in their industry. We work with people and companies who want to take responsibility for the outcome. We help people understand how they are generating problems and we help them to unlock their potential so that they can operate at a peak level. It is ultimately a partnership for learning.

We show our participants up front the value of the particular training and we help them open their minds and spirits to the content. We believe that it is important to acknowledge our clients’ experience and knowledge and use this to further their learning. We look for ways for participants to take charge of the material and their own learning. We believe that it is important that they participate and contribute. We do this through role plays, scenarios, case studies, and brainstorming. Finally, we provide training and coaching that clients can apply to their lives and work immediately.
